For me, the end of summer means finishing up projects and gearing up for school. It also means attending my seventh wedding of the summer, a garage sale Friday and Saturday and prepping the house for a guest staying with us for a month.
Sleep is not in my future.
But fun can be in yours. Just have a look at what this weekend brings.
• The next Chamber mixer is tonight, and it's sure to have some yummy treats.
It's from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cugino's Italian Restaurant, 572 Breeze St.

• Dig out your grass skirt and coconut bra. It's time for the 71st annual Craig Fire/Rescue Firefighter's Ball.
This party, which has a Hawaiian luau theme, is from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the O.P. Bar and Grill, 534 E. Victory Way. It's just for adults, so kiddos, stay home.
Dress how you wish, and go all out if you want to compete for the best costume prize.
The cost is $10 per person, with food and drinks available for some extra dough. Proceeds benefit a scholarship fund.

• It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a balloon.
Organizers have eight pilots lined up to launch early Saturday and Sunday mornings, sometime between 6:30 and 8 a.m. So have a look up in the sky.
There's also a community barbecue at 6 p.m. Friday for $9 a person and a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday for $5 a person.
Saturday night features live music by Cabin Fever for a $5 admission and a barbecue dinner for $9 a person from 6 to 10 p.m.
There's a balloon glow after dark and s'mores and root beer floats at 8 p.m. Saturday.
There's also tractor pulls and some games and vendors at the museum.

Tickets cost $10 for adults. Students and children are free.

After you soak up some opera, kick back with some Broadway musicals.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
Redbox has "The Last Song," if you're up for a chick flick.
