MCHS boys basketball coach resigns
Parker continues to teach history at high school
April 25, 2007
Scott Parker, Moffat County High School boys basketball coach, has officially resigned.
According to Jeff Simon, MCHS athletic director, there was no reason given when he turned in his resignation a week ago.
Parker had no comment.
Last season, the Bulldogs finished seventh in Western Slope play, compiling a 4-10 league record and 6-15 overall. The year before, the team went 11-12 overall.
Parker coached the boys basketball team from 2005 to 2007, was the baseball team’s manager from 2003 to 2005 and has assisted the girls basketball team.
He continues to teach history at MCHS.
“It was totally his choice, and his resignation has no bearing on his teaching position,” Simon said.
The coaching position is posted on the Colorado High School Activities Association, and MCHS has received five responses so far.
Simon said two of the five applicants are from within Colorado.
Regarding a timeline to fill the position, Simon said it must be open at least two weeks and would like to see it filled by early summer.
“Typically the applicants we get are teachers, but they don’t have to be,” Simon said. “I think we’ll be better off if we find someone for summer ball.”
