Craig resident Mike Brinks, 59, filed papers Tuesday stating he intends to run for Moffat County treasurer in the November election.

Brinks said he has been a certified public accountant for about 20 years — now at Bonaker & Associates on north Yampa Avenue — and worked as the Moffat County School District finance director from 1994 to 2006.

“I’ve been the county auditor before, and I audited the treasurer’s office,” Brinks added, “and I think it’s an office that suits me well.”

Brinks, a registered Republican since 1972, plans to run as a Republican.

Residents have until Tuesday to affiliate with a political party if they want to participate in precinct caucuses in March.
