Kiwanis play tickets still available

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

Despite a recent change in rules regarding how residents stand in line for tickets to the annual Craig Kiwanis Club play, ticket sales were not overly affected Friday, club member Jeff Corriveau said.

The tailgating tradition, which also involved residents having alcoholic beverages while they waited, came to a close this year because of concerns about potential liquor license violations.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, which hosted Friday's ticket sales, contended that residents having open liquor containers on post property put the organization's liquor license at risk.

The Kiwanis play, an annual event that lampoons community residents and events from the past year, is scheduled for March 5 and 6 at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion.

"We sold substantially about what we sold last year for original ticket sales," Corriveau said Monday.

Craig Ford hosted a blind auction Feb. 5 for tables March 5 and 6. The Friday table sold for $500 and the Saturday table sold for $1,000, Corriveau said.
