April 20, 2005
Because April is “The Month of the Young Child,” I find this the perfect time to thank those in our community who volunteered their time by visiting us at our preschool, Sunrise Kids, and helped our preschoolers celebrate “The Week of the Young Child,” which was the first week in April.
Our school believes that community involvement is a very important aspect of a quality preschool experience. It is a time to introduce the community to what quality preschool is and at the same time, introduce our preschoolers to some of the people who make up the community.
A personal thank-you to Dave DeRose and Troy DeRose for entertaining us with their guitars; Dr. Told, who shared his expertise about what doctors do best; Mark Sollenberger, who taught us about water and how the city keeps it healthy for us to drink; the Meckleys from Tunies & Such for allowing us to visit their nursery; the people at the courthouse who let us cover their sidewalks with childhood art and the Craig Daily Press, the Morning News and K27 Television for taking picutes of the children while they were doing their “chalk art” at Alice Pleasant Park in downtown Craig.
There’s nothing more fun than smiling for cameras and talking into a microphone when you are 3,4 and 5 years old.
And last but not least, I want to give a big thank-you to the staff at Sunrise Kids … Miss Alice, Miss Pat, Miss Donna, Miss Angela and Miss Kimberly … without you, our children would not experience the love, warmth and wonderful education that they receive on a daily basis.
