Joe Gallegos: ‘Appease everyone’

It seems like the voters who voted for the Moffat County Public Safety Center, and the taxpayers who are footing the bill, are being left out of this battle between the Craig City Council and Moffat County over who gets what and for how much.

Wouldn't it benefit everyone if the safety center was kept as is, and the city therefore wouldn't build a new building?

The taxpayers are paying for everything, so why have two buildings, with the large one having a vacancy in it? Who would they put in there to fill that vacancy? No one, so they lose income while it sits empty.

The city is going to pay for space and upkeep of the space, regardless of where it might be. Why is the county so adamant about the cost the city should pay it, when it stands a chance of losing revenue from the city if the city moves out?

If that happens, the taxpayers will pay for two buildings, the county will have an empty space with no money coming in, and the city will still have to pay for its room and board, regardless of where it is.

Why not appease everyone and keep the status as it is? After all, it was the voters who wanted the combined safety center. The combined safety center is about to be broken up, and if the Colorado State Patrol should also happen to move out, we could then call it the Moffat County Sheriff's Office. With lots of empty space.

Communication will also suffer. All that was done to make it possible to have all the policing entities together for better communications will be for not.

I could be wrong. I am not a politician. I do not have a degree in psychology.
