The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a human body in the southeast corner of the county.
At 4:30 p.m., Sunday, the Sheriff’s office received a call reporting the discovery of human remains on private land off of County Road 40.
“Some local residents were out hunting on private land, and they discovered some human remains,” Moffat County Sheriff Buddy Grinstead said. “Due to the timing of the report, deputies responded last night, took some pictures and cordoned off the area. We are investigating the discovery.”
The Sheriff’s office is coordinating with the Moffat County Coroner’s Office and the Bureau of Land Management on the investigation. It’s possible that the identity of the body will be determined today, Grinstead said.
