Colorado Northwestern Community College's float provides colorful holiday cheer during the 2014 Parade of Lights. This year's event takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday along Yampa Avenue and Victory Way

The holiday season is coming soon, and here are some of the early events to get you in the spirit in Craig and Moffat County.

Parade of Lights slated for Saturday in Craig

Head down to Yampa Avenue and Victory Way Saturday night to watch the Parade of Lights. The parade will start at 6 p.m. Saturday at Craig Middle School and end at the old Safeway parking lot. A parade glow will commence immediately following in the parking lot. If you have questions call Karen Brown at the Community Budget Center, 970-824-7898.

Festival of Trees kicks off Monday at courthouse

The fourth annual Festival of Trees, hosted by Moffat County Youth United Way and Moffat County High School Key Club, begins Nov. 30 and will fill the second floor of the Moffat County Courthouse with festively decorated Christmas trees.

The decorative displays will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Nov. 30 and ending Jan. 8. Throughout the festival, hosts will offer special activities such as hayrides, hot cocoa, music and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Days with special activities are Dec. 10, 12 and 17.

Holiday Home Tour supports good cause

Support Philanthropic Educational Organization's scholarships for women by viewing the yuletide decorations in the area, with five homes ready to put on a show and welcome people in as part of the Holiday Home Tour Dec. 4 and 5.

The tour includes stops at 998 Alta Vista Dr., 635 W. Ninth Street, 397 Sandrock Dr., 1000 W. Victory Way and 42755 County Road 29.

Admission is $10 apiece and are good for both days. Entry into a drawing for a gift basket will also be available for $1.

Down Home Christmas offers free event to Craig residents Dec. 5

The Downtown Business Association has been busy decorating Alice Pleasant Park on Yampa Avenue in anticipation for its Second Annual Down Home Christmas Celebration.

The celebration is 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 in Alice Pleasant Park, offering patrons tasty cookies, hot chocolate, sleigh and carriage rides, live musical performances, roasting chestnuts on an open fire and much more.

Cowboy Christmas is Dec. 5

The Boys & Girls Club of Craig invites the community to the 11th annual Cowboy Christmas Dec. 5. The evening includes silent auctions, gaming, dancing to the music of Smokin' Gun Band and a delicious dinner to support the club's efforts for local kids.

Tickets are $35 per person and are available at BGC or the Craig Daily Press, with sponsorship tables available for $800 or $1,000. For more information, call 970-826-0411.
