Healthy Eating: 10-minute chili

This basic chili recipe can be adapted to your liking, so get creative.

1/2 pound lean ground beef

1 small onion, chopped

1 can (16 ounces) pinto beans

1 can (16 ounces) tomato sauce

1 to 2 tablespoons chili powder

In a large frying pan, brown ground beef and onion until the beef is thoroughly cooked and the onions are limp. Place the beef/onion mixture in a colander to drain excess fat. Return the mixture to the pan and add the remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat until heated through, about 10 minutes. This chili freezes well.

Makes four 1-cup servings.
