— After a full day of interviews with three candidates Thursday, the Hayden School Board is moving forward with negotiations to hire a new superintendent.

School board President Brian Hoza said the board will meet at 7 a.m. Wednesday to consider approving a contract with the chosen candidate.

Hoza said the board will have to wait until then due to a required 14-day waiting period from when the candidate finalists are announced. The public can still offer input and review candidate applications until then.

“Nothing is confirmed until then,” Hoza said. “No offers have been extended at this point."

The board chose Hoza to pursue the negotiations for a new superintendent.

The candidates interviewed were Phil Kasper, Lynda McCarty and Stephen Scheill.

The board then met to discuss the pros and cons with each candidate, but Hoza said the board did not announce a preferred candidate.

“I think the process was good,” Hoza said.

Hoza said the goal is to have the new superintendent working by July 1. Current superintendent Trudy Vader has resigned, and her contract expires June 30.
