H. Neal Glanville: Kinder, softer side out for a moment

For the next few minutes, the kinder, softer, gentler side of me is going outside to play.

I'm having a very hard time understanding the latest concoction of dealmaking over a pedophile.

There we see this insipid criminal face smiling at us in the newspaper, knowing his wrist is about to get slapped.

He was originally charged with 40 felonies involving children and pornography, each a despicable crime on its own. This slimeball has gotten away with 31 of his crimes through some kind of plea deal.

The remaining nine felonies will only cost him 15 years at our expense. He'll be 40 when released, ready to prowl again.

Those that try and clear the normal side of their brain of any responsibility for this travesty need a jolt.

After many years of medical research, it's been determined that pedophilia is incurable. Even when castrated, their brains still send signals when they're shown photos of children.

When this guy gets to prison, he'll most likely be placed in protective custody. To further self-preservation, he'll likely form a gang alliance. This alliance, along with his pedophilia conviction, will almost guarantee protection from the "yard dogs."

It must be noted that officers of the court are sometimes bound by liberal laws, costs and heaven only knows what else.

I personally applaud the effort of our 14th Judicial District Attorney's Office and the judges involved.

But, we as citizens and voters must become more involved with the legal process and fix what must be fixed.

If you chose to ignore this simple fact, your soul will keep you in contempt.

Now for something completely different

The fishing contest bandwagon is gathering steam. We need another arm load of kids and a few more prize donations.

Remember, this is all for The Children's Miracle Network, and all the proceeds go to Children's Hospital in Denver

And finally

Cheers to the Navy Seal team and their counterparts for a job well done.

I'd gladly give you the medals my brother and I acquired on our duty stations.

Hey, you be careful out there, and stay to the light.
