Glenwood Springs beats Moffat County, 35-7

Much of the same for the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter. Bulldogs drive to Glenwood’s 12 yard line but an interception at the 1-yard line ends the drive. GW then runs clock out. Game over 35-7.
After another interception by GW that stalled another MCHS drive that was moving the ball, at 6:39 remaining in the game Jacobs finished off a 5-play, 45-yard drive with a 26-yard TD run. Kick was good. 35-7 GW
MCHS was moving the ball in their second possession of the second half, but an interception by GW linebacker Nick Cianni killed the drive. The quarter ended with GW facing a 3 & 15 from the MCHS 45.

The MCHS game plan to eat up the clock has succeeded they possessed the ball for 19 minutes of the 24 minutes in the first half. The Bulldogs have spent most of their time on offense in the “thunder” formation, rumbling and bumbling for two or three yards at a time. Bubba Ivers scored on the Bulldogs’ second possession on a 35-yard burst. But just as the Bulldog coaching staff expected, Glenwood’s offense can score fast. Both of the Demon’s scores came on the first play of a drive. The first was a 60-yard run by quarterback Luke Jacobs with 2 minutes, 40 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The second was a 20-yard pass from Jacobs to Cam Avery.
Both quarterbacks are leading the way, Ivers has 69 yards on 10 carries. Jacobs has 53 on 4 carries. Jacobs is also 5-7 for 65 yards passing.

Glennwood Springs ties the score with 2:40 left in the quarter with a 69-yard run by Luke Jacob. Score tied at 7-7.
Moffat County goes up with 6:28 left in first quarter as Bubba Ivers scores on a 35-yard touchdown run, pat good for a 7-0 lead.
The Moffat County High School varsity football team faces the Glenwood Springs Demons in a road game tonight.
The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Glenwood Springs High School, 1521 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs.
MCHS goes into the game with a record of 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Western Slope League. The Demons are 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the WSL.
"Our kids are aware of the opportunity they have in front of them," Bulldog coach Kip Hafey said Thursday. "If we win, we will be in a three-way tie for first in the league."
