Germond: Voting is important
June 24, 2010
To the editor:
I'd like to thank all the candidates that came to the forum put on by the Bears Ears Patriots last Friday.
All of you did very well and showed commitment to our community and the people who will be deciding the direction of our county.
I'd also like to thank the members of the Bears Ears Patriots who worked so hard to give our community this look at our local candidates. You did a good job and were fair to all the candidates.
Your professionalism did you more credit than I could ever write about in this space.
Now for the big news.
The county commission races and others will be decided during the Aug. 10 primary election because there are no Democratic candidates running.
Everyone who knows what this country and county stand for needs to be registered to vote by July 12.
The sins, or the blessings, of the fathers will be passed down to their children. Please read "The 5,000 Year Leap" and see what this country stands for and the principles it was founded on.
In this book, you'll find more enlightenment than any ancient scholar or philosopher such as Plato or Socrates.
Our founding fathers were truly part of a miracle and the book draws a nice picture of this.
Our country is in a bind.
Generation after generation has dropped the ball in passing along fundamental knowledge. We need to focus on changing that within ourselves, and our homes.
Losers blame others, winners take credit. Let's act now, and become deserving victors in the contest of nations.
