Fitness Tip: Is lower extremity pain limiting walking?

If you are suffering from chronic knee, hip, foot or ankle pain that limits your ability to walk for exercise, walking in a swimming pool may be a good option. Pool walking reduces the effects of gravity and lets you work in a more weightless environment.
When wading in water, the deeper you go, the more buoyant or weightless your body becomes. This reduces the amount of stress on your knees, hips, feet, and ankles and allows you to walk with much less pain.
