Father of dead 3-year-old taken back into custody
April 10, 2014
Steamboat Springs — The father who was released from jail after his 3-year-old boy died has been arrested again.
Tyler Davis, 22, the father of Austin Davis, was arrested in Grand County on Tuesday on suspicion of violating the conditions of his bond. According to the Grand County Court, Tyler Davis still was in custody Thursday with bond set at $4,000.
When Davis' son died March 27, Davis was incarcerated in Routt County Jail awaiting a sentencing related to not registering as a sex offender.
The mother of Austin Davis, Meghan McKeon, has been charged with two counts of child abuse resulting in the death of Austin and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
On April 3, Tyler Davis was granted a personal recognizance bond by Routt County Judge James Garrecht. Davis' mother, Charity O'Konski, had to sign off on the personal recognizance bond, and Davis was released into her custody.
According to an arrest affidavit filed in Grand County Court, a condition of Davis' bond was that he was on house arrest in Grand County and had to wear an ankle bracelet.
On Tuesday, O'Konski contacted Granby police and said Davis was "out of control" and she wanted him removed from her apartment, according to the arrest affidavit.
When officers arrived at the apartment, Davis began to cry and apologized to his mother before being taken into custody.
According to the arrest affidavit, O'Konski said Davis had been disrespectful and would not follow the rules of his bond. O'Konski said Davis had went on Facebook and had left the apartment, which were both violations of his bond.
