Family of Steven Sharp: ‘Forever indebted’

To the editor:

Our hearts and minds have forever been changed with all of the love and kindness that has been generated by the residents of Northwest Colorado.

On June 26, Steven Sharp was rushed to The Memorial Hospital in Craig by members of the Craig ambulance service.

To say these caregivers were anything but miraculous would be greatly unjust.

Their ability to remain calm and attentive in such a chaotic and traumatic situation is undeniably a gift.

We would not have our loved one with us now if not for the expertise of medical professionals here in town.

The speed and effectiveness of all the caregivers had Steven in flight to Grand Junction, where he was put on total life support while his brain worked diligently in trying to find a way to support his system.

The residents of Northwest Colorado soon gathered in strength to make sure "the sweetheart of Craig" would not have to worry about his fiancée or son, financially or emotionally.

The constant fundraisers, support, prayers and thoughts continue to pour in daily.

He is now doing well at a long-term acute care center in Denver and working exceptionally hard in trying to get into a rehabilitation hospital.

We are forever indebted to your kindness and love, and will continue to give updates on his website, http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/stevensharp.

Thank you.
