Donation fund established for injured motocross racer

A donation fund has been established for a Craig man who was injured Sunday during a motocross race at Thunder Ridge Motor Sports Park.

The Steven Sharp Donation Fund was established by fiancée Kailee Greenwood and is being managed by Yampa Valley Bank, 435 Mack Lane.

Sharp, 19, was injured after a hard landing on the dirt track. He was transported by ambulance to The Memorial Hospital in Craig, and then flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.

As of Thursday afternoon, Sharp was listed in critical condition.

According to website http://www.caringbridge.org, Sharp suffered head trauma in the crash, which includes extensive swelling and bleeding from several areas of his brain.

Sharp is under sedation and has undergone procedures to reduce swelling and to insert a tracheal breathing tube.
