I want to commend Colette Erickson for addressing a difficult and heartbreaking situation but she didn't go far enough.
People have an obligation to care for animals until the end and doing what is best for the animal is not always easy or pleasant but necessary if you truly care about an animal.
Euthanasia is an option but one that prevents the animal from being buried due to the toxins involved. To prevent slow, lingering, painful deaths we need to bring back the horse slaughter business in the US that is humane and respectful of the horse.
