Despite having only nine swimmers, the Moffat County High School girls varsity swim team managed to place 15th out of 21 teams at the competitive Jeffco Invite on Jan. 16.
Coach Anita Reynolds said because of the limited number of girls competing, she had to shuffle her lineup for the relays.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Hannah Kirk, Marlee Chacon, Eryn Leonard and Mary Penner swam to a seventh-place finish.
Eryn Leonard swam into the final rounds in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Leonard, Tatianna Dulmaine, Kirk and Penner finished eighth overall.
Reynolds said both Dulmaine and Penner improved their times in the 50-yard freestyle, while Penner and Chacon cut four seconds off their times in the 100-yard freestyle, collectively.
Dulmaine took three seconds off her 100-yard backstroke time, Chacon sliced seven seconds off her best 100-yard breaststroke time.
For the junior varsity team, Jessica Prather improved her 50-yard freestyle time by six seconds, and Riley Johnston her 50-yard freestyle time by more than one second.
Genna Bradley finished third in diving with a score of 367, and Larissa Grammer advanced two rounds with a score of 154.03.
The team will not have a meet this weekend, but will travel Jan. 29 to Delta and Jan. 30 to Grand Junction.
