1 to 3 p.m. Moffat County High School will host a freshman orientation. Students will pick up schedules, find lockers and classrooms and meet the teachers. All freshmen are encouraged to attend.
A ranch horse competition and clinic will be held as part of the Routt County Fair on Friday and Saturday at the fairgrounds in Hayden. The clinic costs $45. Call 879-5214.

The Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials will be Sept. 7 to 11 in Meeker. There will be a craft fair, art contest, barbecue and other activities. Tickets will be sold only at the gate. A five-day pass for adults costs $30; for children ages 8 to 16, it costs $15. A one-day pass for adults costs $10; for children ages 8 to 16, it costs $5. Children younger than 8 get in free.
