Darlene Shepherd: ‘We need people to help’
February 11, 2011
To the editor:
Driving home from work and the grocery store, I can't help but notice the amount of fire hydrants that are buried in snow with our recent amount of snowfall.
I don't have one near my house, but would love to shovel it out if I did, as I am capable and it might save my house someday.
There are senior citizens and handicap people unable to get out and do this.
I recently received my real estate property tax and noticed I am paying for public welfare, and Craig Fire/Rescue. Where does this money go? Can't it pay someone that needs employment to shovel fire hydrants, or can't we use community service people for this job?
I do believe we need to help our truly needy people.
