Concert Association seeks contestants for local performance

Ivy Davis and the rest of the High on Harmony singers opened the last Craig Concert Association's Local Talent Concert competition. Auditions for the next show are Sept. 8.

— So you think you can dance?

Or sing?

Or play an instrument?

Auditions once again are coming up for the Local Talent Concert, put on by the Craig Concert Association.

“There’s a huge variety of music,” said Jim Vorhies, a board member with the CCA. Dancers and all types of musicians are encouraged to try out.

Auditions are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 in the Moffat County High School auditorium.

Organizers will try to include everyone who auditions, al-

though space will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis, Vorhies said. People unable to audition in person can submit tapes or CDs of their music before Sept. 8.

One talent show contestant is John Husband, who plays guitar, harmonica, sings and plays with Craig’s 1340 Band. He has performed at the Talent Concert for more than 10 years.

“I think the thing that impresses me the most is getting new talent out : especially the young kids,” Husband said. Before auditioning, “just practice, then get out there and play.”

For more information about the Local Talent Concert, call organizer Jim Simpson at 824-4138. The concert will take place at 2 p.m. Dec. 9.

“It’s a chance to get some public exposure,” Vorhies said. “It’s really neat.”
