Craig women OK after I-70 crash Monday
April 26, 2005
Two Craig women were treated for minor injuries after they were involved in a head on collision on Interstate 70 on Monday.
Craig residents Debi Harmon and Cindy Biskup were traveling westbound on I-70 when the driver of a Mercury Sable crossed the median and struck the 2005 GMC Yukon that Harmon was driving, Colorado State Patrol trooper Scott Liska said. The accident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. about 70 miles east of Idaho Springs, Liska said.
Biskup was treated for minor injuries and Harmon was transported to Swedish Medical Center and released, Biskup said. Both women returned to Craig on Tuesday.
Liska said no one else was injured in the accident.
The driver of the Mercury Sable hydroplaned while heading eastbound, and her vehicle crossed the median into the path of the Yukon, Liska said. A third vehicle was involved, but no injuries or vehicle damage were reported.
The Mercury probably is a total loss. Liska said he was unclear whether the Yukon is considered a total loss.
“We’re all very lucky to be alive and to have just walked away,” Biskup said.
