Craig Sports Briefs for Oct. 25, 2013: Moffat County volleyball has tall task at districts
October 24, 2013
Moffat County's volleyball team qualified for the nine-team district tournament this weekend at Grand Junction Central High School, beating out Basalt for the final spot in the 3A tournament.
The Bulldogs' two league wins were enough to get them into the tournament, but they'll have their work cut out for them when play begins Friday. Three pools of three teams each will play each other, then play Saturday based on Friday's results.
Moffat County will play Coal Ridge 4 p.m. Friday, then take on Roaring Fork at 5:30 p.m. Coal Ridge finished second in the WSL, while Roaring Fork was 4-5 in the league, tied for fifth.
Each Friday pool of teams will send one team to A, B and C pools Saturday. Those playing in the A group will be competing for the district championship. Every team plays two more games at 2:30, 4 or 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Five weeks of play finished in Craig BCA
The Craig Billiards Congress of America (BCA) pool league now is through five weeks of play, with a shake-up at the top of the standings
Git-R-Done passed One Eyed Bandits last week, now holding an 826 to 816 lead against them. Odd Ballz still sits third, just behind the Bandits at 812 points.
Uh-Oh (800), No Ex-Cue-Ses (800) and Out 4 Blood (758) round out the standings.
BCA chose to cancel its Sunday league for now because of lack of interest. According to an email from the league, it may restart in December.
Craig BCA plays Mondays at 6 p.m. at Popular Bar, 24 W. Victory Way.
