Sara Linsacum will host a youth volleyball camp at Moffat County High School for three days in June.
The camp will teach all aspects of volleyball, including passing, serving and footwork. Fundamentals will be the focus for campers of all skill levels. The camp is for girls entering first through eighth grades next fall.
First- through third-graders will work from 8 to 9 a.m. June 23 through 25, with camp from 9 to 10 a.m. for fourth- through sixth-graders and 10 a.m. to noon for seventh- and eighth-graders.
Registration closes Wednesday. For more information or to register, call Linsacum at 970-819-7434.
Free summer soccer camp at Sawer Soccer Park
Bill Sawer will host a free youth summer soccer camp and league at his fields throughout the summer.
The camp has weekly practices for beginners and more advanced players, along with a refereed game each Wednesday. Sawer said he designed the schedule so players could participate in Parks and Recreation games on the other days of the week and still take part in the weekly games at his park.
Practices for beginners ages 10 and younger are from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Sawer Soccer Park on West First Street. The advanced practice for players up to age 14 are at the same time Thursdays. Players can show up whenever they want.
Players are encouraged to bring shinguards but no soccer cleats. Sawer has extra equipment available to use for those without shinguards.
Parks and Rec football getting started
The Craig Parks and Recreation youth tackle football season is around the corner.
The leagues for third- through sixth-graders have weekly games and practices at Woodbury Sports Complex that begin in August. Registration is open now at the Parks and Recreation office, 300 W. Fourth St., or on the Parks and Rec website.
For more information on the league or to become a coach or official, call Dave Pike at 970-826-2006.
Summer water aerobics at Craig pool
Craig Parks and Recreation is taking registration for the next session of water aerobics at the Craig Swimming Complex this summer.
Water aerobics offers a low-resistance method of exercise and can improve fitness and flexibility without over-working joints. During the summer, shallow-water and deep-water classes will be offered. Shallow classes will be from noon to 1 p.m. or 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Deep-water classes will be at the same times Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Classes run through Aug. 14. The fee for one session is $50 or $90 for both sets of classes, or people can drop in on individual classes for $4. For more information, call Parks and Rec at 970-826-2029.
