Craig briefs: Photography event to showcase Villard ranch

The Moffat County Tourism Center in the Centennial mall will be hosting Yuri Chicovsky’s photo exhibit Friday as well as hosting the launch of his 30-day Kickstarter fundraising campaign to produce his film on the Villard’s sheep ranch at noon Saturday.

On Friday, the photo exhibit will be showcasing photos taken by Chicovsky in the American west as well as photos he took of the Villard family and their ranch.

On Saturday, Chicovsky will then be launching his Kickstarter campaign by presenting a video on the Villard family and their ranch. The film will be addressing the current state of the American West, the history of the Villard ranch and the problems and challenges Albert Villard faces to keep his ranch running. The ranch has been in the family for three generations, but the family is struggling to continue their tradition of passing it down to the next generation because of the current state of the American West.

Those who want to donate to Chicovsky’s effort to produce his film on the Villard ranch can do so by going to his online portal set up through the Kickstarter website for donations.
