Craig briefs: Kick Butts Day focus on Facebook, texts
March 20, 2010
Young people from Moffat County are joining thousands of youths across the country who are taking part in Kick Butts Day, a nationwide initiative that aims to stop youth tobacco use.
As part of the KBD celebration Wednesday, area students are invited to participate in a text-messaging and Facebook awareness campaign.
Victoria Barron, a nurse and community health educator for Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, is encouraging Moffat County youths to spread the word about tobacco by texting their friends "Be tobacco free" or "Be smart, don't start tobacco." Participants also can become a fan of the "Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids" and "Kick Butts Day" pages on Facebook and invite their friends to join.
