The Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors are holding a business after-hours mixer, hosted by the Wyman Museum, 94350 U.S. Highway 40, and MetLife Insurance, from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 28.

There will be food, drinks and a chance to win door prizes, including an LCD HD television.

State offices closed today, Monday

Many state government executive branch offices will be closed today for a furlough day and Monday, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

State driver's license offices, the Department of Public Health and Environment's vital records office, state history museums, Division of Wildlife Service Centers and administrative offices for executive branch departments will be among the facilities closed today, with about 15,500 executive branch employees on unpaid furlough.

Colorado State Parks will be open today (except for visitor centers).

State troopers will be patrolling the highways. Department of Transportation snowplows and maintenance crews will be working as necessary, and the Traffic Operations Center will be running. The state unemployment benefits office, state nursing homes, hospitals and care centers also will be open.

The state Legislature, Judicial Branch and courts, Attorney General's Office, Treasurer's Office and Secretary of State's Office will be open, as well.

This will be the fifth government closure day in fiscal year 2009-10, with three remaining closure days scheduled for Feb. 12, April 2 and May 28. The eight furlough days will save taxpayers an estimated $27.2 million.

EDP board to meet Wednesday

The Craig/Moffat Economic Development Partnership board meeting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the second-floor conference room at the Moffat County Courthouse, 221 W. Victory Way.

The meeting is open to the public. Lunch will be available for $6 to $8.
