Craig briefs: Gov. Ritter orders flags be lowered

On Friday, Gov. Bill Ritter ordered United States and Colorado state flags be lowered on all public buildings Monday in honor of U.S. Army Specialist Jonathon M. Sylvestre, 21, of Colorado Springs.

Sylvestre was killed Nov. 2 in Kut, Iraq, as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He joined the Army in 2008 and was on his first deployment. His funeral is scheduled for Monday.

Holiday support group meets Monday

A new Getting through the Holidays Grief Support Group is scheduled to meet Monday at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association’s Craig office, 745 Russell St. The meeting is scheduled from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.



The group is open to the public.

Library board set to meet Monday

The monthly meeting of the Moffat County Libraries Board is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Craig branch, 570 Green St. The meeting is open to the public.

The Augusta Wallihan chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will host its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. today at the Museum of Northwest Colorado, 590 Yampa Ave.

Community dinner on the horizon

Integrated Community is hosting a free Thanksgiving Community Dinner from 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 19 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 678 School St. There also will be a winter coat giveaway and health screenings.

Coffee shop offering mic night Friday

Serendipity Coffee Shop, 576 Yampa Ave., is scheduled to host an open mic night from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday.
