‘Waving Hands’ submissions sought

The deadline for submissions to be included in the 2013 edition of CNCC’s “Waving Hands Review” is Friday.

Community members are invited to send literary, photography, 2-D and 3-D artwork, drawings and other art. Visit the CNCC website, http://www.cncc.edu, and click on “Waving Hands Review” for submission guidelines and details.



AINC offering audio access to newspapers

The Audio Information Network of Colorado is now providing listeners with audio access to the Craig Daily Press and nearly 100 other Colorado newspapers, ad circulars and magazines.



The Audio Information Network provides services to the blind, visually impaired and print disabled individuals with programming available in both English and Spanish.

Listeners may access AINC programming via telephone, broadcast on a digital receiver, Podcast or live streaming on AINC’s website at no cost.

Scholarship event set for Thursday

Hayden Rebekah’s Scholarship Fundraiser is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rebekah Hall, 210 Walnut St. in Hayden. The cost is $5 per person or $10 per family. A chili and potato bar will be offered along with drinks and desserts. For more information, call Janis Brown at 970-824-4168.

VNA Tai Chi offered through March 25

The Northwest Colo­rado VNA hosts Tai Chi for Health from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. Mondays through March 25 at The Journey, 1150 W. Ninth St.

The gentle exercise class improves balance, flexibility and strength and helps reduce stress.

There is a $3 requested donation per class. Everyone is welcome.

VNA offering drop-in flu clinics Thursday

Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association offers drop-in flu clinics from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Craig VNA, 745 Russell St., through Feb. 28.

Adult flu shots are $25 and Kids Flu Shots/Mist are $14 or less. Flu shots also are available by appointment.

Academy applicants sought for this year

Colorado State Patrol is seeking applicants for the 2013 Youth Academy.

This year’s academy will take place from June 9 to 15, 2013, in Golden.

The goal of the Youth Academy is to assist in the development of future leaders for the State of Colorado. It is mentally and physically demanding and is provided at no cost to the participants.

Some requirements are:

• Be at least 16 years old and a high school student

• Be a Colorado resident

• Have a valid Colorado driver’s license

• Minimum GPA of 2.0

• Proof of medical insurance and have a doctor’s certification of ability to participate

• Agree to a criminal and driver history check

• Present two letters of recommendation

• Complete an interview at the local CSP office
