Craig briefs: Craig Chamber seeks more board members

The Craig Chamber of Commerce board of directors is seeking individuals interested in serving as a chamber board member, according to a news release.
The chamber has four seats available for the 2014 to 2016 term. Board service includes attending monthly meetings from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second Thursday of each month, actively participating on at least one committee and attending and/or assisting with chamber events, according to the release.
The board should reflect the business and civic diversity of the community and must be comprised of community leaders and up-and-coming community leaders who bring knowledge, unique skills and influence to the board. It is preferred that the same industry is not represented by multiple board members to preserve this diversity
Characteristics sought in chamber board members include:
■ Proven performance: A solid track record of contributing to the success of programs, events or projects.
■ Commitment: A demonstrated commitment to the organization, its mission and goals.
■ Time to serve: The ability to participate fully in Chamber activities, prepare for meetings and serve constructively on committees.
■ Understanding of team work: Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
■ Sound judgment and integrity: An ability to tackle difficult issues by letting facts and ethics overcome emotional or personal responses and the ability to make decisions that may not be popular with members, elected officials or community members.
■ Ability to subordinate special interests: Chamber leadership may require subordinating personal interests for the greater good of the chamber.
■ Strategic thinking: The ability to understand the community, the chamber and relationships and integrate those elements into a coherent plan and strategy.

Business Center Advisory Team needs members
The Craig Moffat Economic Development Partnership is accepting applications for candidates to serve on our volunteer Business Incubator Center Advisory Team, according to a news release.
The purpose: The Business Center provides resources for business owners and entrepreneurs to successfully develop their project or business idea.
An Advisory Team Member is expected to:
■ Attend monthly meetings that are one hour during the workday
■ Serve on committees, as developed
■ Provide Business Center development ideas
■ Advise CMEDP Board of Directors on oversight of Business Center program operations and implementation of Business Center.
■ Offer guidance on long-range planning for Business Incubator Center, evaluating goals and objectives for the organization and all staff members serving the Business Incubator Center.
■ Serve as a good will ambassador to the community by publicizing progress and recognizing those who support our economic development initiatives.
Craig/Moffat Economic Development Partnership on behalf of the Marianna Raftopoulos Business Incubator Center seeks community members who believe in and want to encourage the economic development efforts of the Business Center for Moffat County. In addition, individuals with administrative, small business, financial, public relations or leadership backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
