Craig briefs: Colorado Highway 317 resurfacing project is underway
June 25, 2013
The Colorado Department of Transportation, Shell and Moffat County are resurfacing an 8.5 mile section of Colorado Highway 317 east of Hamilton. The resurfacing will take place between mile marker zero to 8 — a stretch of roadway from Colo. 13 east of Moffat County Road 37. Road crews will be re-pathing the highway from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays effective immediately.
The goal is to create a smoother road, in addition to eliminating seasonal weight restrictions. Drivers can get weekly updates by emailing Jennifer Holmlund at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 970-314-0640.
Rotary Club of Craig sponsors flag project
The Rotary Club of Craig once again is sponsoring the American flag project to encourage community support for Craig and the United States of America. Interested businesses and community members are asked to sponsor flags that the Rotary Club will then display throughout town on Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4, Patriots Day (Sept. 11), Columbus Day and Veterans Day.
The flags are placed on light poles on Yampa Avenue from Fourth Street to Sixth Street. On Victory Way, the flags are placed on both sides of the street starting at Lincoln and then every 90 feet heading west. The number of flags that will be posted will depend on the number of sponsors. Last year, the Rotary Club placed 107 flags on both Yampa Avenue and Victory Way.
The Rotary Club says the flags are a great way to impress visitors driving through the area. The cost to purchase a flag and take part in the program is $75 per flag, per year. All sponsors will be recognized in the Craig Daily Press at the beginning and end of the flag year.
