Craig Bad Dogs dominate at Mat Cat Tournament

— After claiming its first national title Jan. 23 at the Beehive Brawl in Utah, the Craig Bad Dogs youth wrestling team kept up its dominance.

Wrestling Jan. 30 at the Fruita Mat Cat Tournament, 28 Bad Dogs earned 30 total medals.

Overall, the team claimed 11 first-place finishes, four second-place finishes, eight third-place-finishes, four fourth-place finishes and one fifth-place finish.

Cody Baker, Kaden Hixson (in two brackets), Laaden Rothermund, Isiaih Herod, Greg Hixson, Corbin Beck, Mikey Bingham, Shandon Hadley, Dominic Beck and John Peroulis all took home first-place.

Logan Hafey, Issik Herod, Mikinzie Klimper and Elias Peroulis all had second-place finishes.

Thomas Baker, Daniel Caddy, Anthony Duran, Colton Hall, Luke Pleasant, Drew Rothermund, TJ Shelton and Dominic Beck (in two brackets) took home third-place finishes.

Fourth-place wrestlers included Hugo Hernandez, Devlyn Mosman, Stelios Peroulis, Chase Rule and Dagan White, and Chris Moschetti finished in fifth-place place.

The Bad Dogs will have a break before the Feb. 27 and 28 Colorado State Wrestling Championships in Castle Rock.
