Congressional candidate appearing Thursday in Craig
February 29, 2012
In 2009, Tisha Casida said she began worrying about the economy and federal regulations handcuffing small business owners.
Rather than sit idly by, she decided to act.
The 30-year-old owner of That's Natural! Marketing & Consulting company in Pueblo is an independent running for Colorado's Third Congressional District, a seat held by Republican Rep. Scott Tipton.
This is her first bid for public office.
"Most of my clients are small business owners and many of them have faced copious amounts of bureaucratic red tape from the federal level," Casida said. "I'm frustrated with all of the red tape coming from an alphabet soup of agencies that are making it difficult for local people to get by or become a small business owner."
Casida is a Colorado native. She grew up on a farm in Vineland, a small town near Pueblo.

On Thursday, the candidate will be one of two featured speakers during the regularly Bears Ears Tea Party Patriots meeting at 7 p.m. at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.
"I generally don't like to talk at people," Casida said. "I open it up fairly early on for people to ask questions and to have a discussion about what they are seeing locally, at the state level, and at the federal level."
Casida will be joined Thursday night by Ron Roesener, a Republican candidate for State House District 57.
The pair will lead off a lineup of local tea party meetings that will feature regional political candidates.
Candidate appearances are listed below:
• 1 p.m. March 31 — District 8 State Sen. Jean White, R-Hayden.
• 7 p.m. April 5 — Bob Rankin, Republican candidate for State House District 57.
• 6 p.m. April 7 — House District 57 Rep. Randy Baumgardner, R-Hot Sulphur Springs, who is running against White in SD 8.
Before Thursday's meeting, Casida will appear at 10 a.m. on the Cari and Rob Show on 55 Country, 550 AM.
She's also trying to coordinate a coffee meet and greet with Craig business owners.
"We're going to be in Craig for about a day-and-a-half," Casida said. "I really want to take advantage of the opportunity and meet with as many people there as I can."
