Colorado State Patrol preparing for increased DUI enforcement
March 11, 2010
Colorado State Patrol Troop 4B, which covers a five-county area, will conduct driving under the influence checkpoints beginning this week, troopers announced Thursday in a news release.
"St. Patrick's Day is fast approaching," the CSP reported in the release. "In preparation for the popular, alcohol-fueled holiday weekend, the Colorado State Patrol … will be conducting DUI saturation patrols within the troop, which encompasses Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt, Grand and Jackson counties."
The increased enforcement begins Friday and runs through Thursday, according to the news release.
It will include regular patrols and additional staffing that will be used to look for "impaired and intoxicated drivers in an effort to prevent alcohol and drug involved fatal and injury crashes."
The saturation patrols also will include high visibility and strict enforcement by the CSP, troopers said in the release.
