Both the seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball teams were involved in a sweep during their Saturday games in Rangely.
However, they were on different sides of the broom.
The eighth-grade A- and B-teams each won, 2-0. Coach Michelle Henderson said her teams were successful all around.
"Both teams were really on fire," she said. "Their serving was good, and they were really setting up some good plays."
Henderson attributed the success to the momentum the teams had from the A-team's Tuesday win against Soroco and a week's worth of intense preparation.
"They had some really good, hard practices this week," she said.
The eighth-grade A-team stands at 5-2, while the B-team is 4-0, after the Rangely match-ups.
Saturday's results were not as positive for the seventh-grade teams, which both lost, 2-0.
Coach Cristy Simpson said the loss was the result of a lack of communication on the court.
"We've been having the same issues a lot," she said. "We're going to be making a few changes and moving girls around."
Simpson said her teams still have a great deal of potential despite recent losses, which leave the A-team at 4-3 and B-team at 1-5.
"What we really need to do is build up confidence," she said.
The seventh- and eighth-grade teams will face off Thursday afternoon at home against the Little Snake River Valley School in Baggs, Wyo.
"I think we'll be fine against Baggs as long as we do what we've been practicing," Simpson said. "These girls still have the potential to win districts as long as they bring their A game."
Henderson said she believes her players also have what it takes to go the distance at the Oct. 15 district tournament.
However, she wants to check out the competition beforehand.
"We still need to play Steamboat (on Oct. 8) to see what we'll need to work on for the tournament," she said.
