Children’s Health Fair a huge success
May 29, 2001
To the Editor:
The Children’s Health Fair, held April 26-27, was a success this year due to the hard work and dedication of many employees and volunteers. Various members of our Child Find team contributed long hours, with no pay, to help parents better understand their child’s development. There are too many individuals to recognize, but there are various groups of people who helped make our Health Fair a success.
The Craig Lions Club deserves boundless thanks for finding volunteers to do the vision screening. In addition, Dr. Danner from Eye Care Specialists deserves special recognition for interpreting the results of this vision screening. Ann Pankonin and Lori Butler, from Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, deserve praise for many hours doing infant and toddler health screenings. Special thanks are deserved by Judy Shelton, from Horizon’s Specialized Services, for single-handedly conducting infant and toddler developmental screenings. Two people who continue to volunteer their time each year, are Cheryl Ivy and Ann Conner. They performed dental screenings for all children, ages birth to five years old, and gave countless hours of advice on appropriate dental hygiene for young children.
In addition to the above mentioned volunteers, the Moffat County School District early childhood staff members contributed many hours in this endeavor. Preschool teachers, health technicians, a family coordinator and various early childhood specialists all deserve recognition for their continual support.
Without the efforts of all these individuals and the support of many agencies and organizations, our semi-annual Children’s Health Fair would not be a success.
