Cedar Mountain Lions club helps four to college

The Cedar Mountain Lions Club presented two $500 scholarships and two $1,000 scholarships to Moffat County High School seniors.

Jesse Arthur and Amanda Breen were the $500 winners, with Autumn Daniels and Andrea Darveau each winning $1,000 to go toward college tuition and expenses. Saed Tayyara, chairman of the scholarship committee, said they chose from 29 possible recipients based on need, high scholastic achievement, community, school and sports involvement, workmanship and leadership. The impressive records and obvious talents of these students made them the club’s top choices for their reward as the Past Member’s Memorial/Cedar Mountain Lions Club Scholarship Recipients for 2001.

“The scholarships are generated from the help and support of our community by utilizing our food projects” said Tayyara.

The club presents the scholarships every year. The Cedar Mountain Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. at Wallie’s Restaurant on the first and third Tuesdays of every month. Everyone is invited to join in and become volunteers.
