Montgomery started with Mountain West in 2000 and has received numerous designations since, including becoming a Certified Insurance Service Representative in 2002 and Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist in 2009.

Montgomery also recently won an in-house award for team achievement and is completing coursework toward a designation of Certified Insurance Counselor.

"You learn something new here every day, and what I love most about working here is when I have a customer email me saying, 'It was so awesome to have a response that quick,' and I try to do that within myself to see if I can get something like that out of them," she said.

Supplier continues summer push

Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply, 2355 W. Victory Way, has numerous deals in store for customers within the weeks to come.

The store recently ended its summer Hot Sale, with markdowns on multiple items.

"We move a lot of gardening stuff and fencing stuff in the summer," general manager Ted Taylor said. "We've got a lot of stuff for beating the drought here, too."

In addition to maintaining a booth at the Moffat County Fair, the store will offer a parking lot sale in August and a Carhartt-focused sale and barbecue later in September.

Murdoch's also features an ongoing deal on Stock and Stable Animal Feed and the 4-H line of farming equipment.

"We've got 50-pound bags of those for $7.99, and that's pretty cheap," Taylor said.

Taylor, who has worked with Murdoch's for 16 years — six in Craig and 10 in Montana — was promoted to the store's general manager at the beginning of June.

Before working with the ranching supply company, he was in the military for 22 years.

"I think that's given me leadership skills for a job like this," he said. "I grew up on a ranch, so I know cattle and farming and pretty much everything we carry. A lifetime of experience has prepared me for this."

Taylor said he enjoys the staff at Murdoch's.

"I've got a pretty fun group of people here," he said. "I like seeing customers who come in every day, give me heck. It's good to see them come back."
