Bird starts small grass fire in yard

A bird landing on a power transformer started a small grass fire in the 1500 block of Barclay Street on Friday afternoon.

Calls came in at about 2:15 p.m. with seven firefighters and Engine 7 from Craig Fire/Rescue responding.

Rose Crow, whose yard the fire began in, extinguished the fire by the time firefighters arrived. Only a small patch of grass was burned.

BLM lifts restrictions

Moderate conditions in Northwest Colorado have eased some fire restrictions and lifted others.

Grand, Jackson and Routt counties have lifted fire restrictions and fire danger conditions are listed as moderate in Grand and Jackson, and moderate to high in Routt Counties.

In Rio Blanco County, fire restrictions east of Colorado Highway 13 have been lifted, but remain in place for areas west of the highway.

Moffat County and the BLM Little Snake Field Office will lift fire restrictions east of Colorado Highway 13 on Wednesday.

All areas west of the highway remain under fire restrictions.

Dinosaur National Monument, Browns Park Wildlife Refuge and the White River National Forest, with the exception of the Flattops Wilderness Area, remain under fire restrictions.
