Briefs for Sept. 7, 2011: Organization seeks demolition helpers

The Moffat County Fuller Center for Housing organization, having received approval for demolition, has scheduled work for Sept. 17 and 18 at the Simmons Rooming House, in the 700 block of Yampa Avenue.

The workday, which is open to those ages 16 and older, runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 17 and 18.

The organization has some hard hats, safety glasses and work gloves, but asks volunteers to take tools. Lunch is provided for workers.

Park hosts Leave No Trace program

Yampa River State Park will host a Leave No Trace program at 7 p.m. Saturday at the park, 6185 U.S. Highway 40 West.

The program will include information about planning and preparing, traveling and camping on durable surfaces, disposing of waste properly, leaving what's found, minimizing campfire impacts, respecting wildlife and being considerate of other visitors while using national, state and public land.

Dance lessons offered Friday

The Greenridge Mountaineers Square Dance Club will host dance lessons Friday evening.

The club begins lessons at 7 p.m. Friday at Yampa Valley Feeds, 198 E. Lincoln Ave., Hayden.

Lessons continue at 7 p.m. every Friday throughout the winter at the American Legion hall in Hayden.

Legion bingo set for Saturday

American Legion Post 62 hosts bingo Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and games begin at 5:45 p.m.
