Briefs for Oct. 11, 2011: Cortners to give away pumpkins
October 11, 2011
Red and Linda Cortner will again give pumpkins to area youths next week.
In Craig, youths may get a free pumpkin beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at Homemaker Furnishings, 468 Ranney St. Last year, pumpkins were all distributed by about 11:30 a.m., Red said.
In Baggs, Wyo., children may get a pumpkin at Little Snake River Valley School on Thursday.
In Meeker, pumpkins are available on Friday afternoon on the Rio Blanco County Courthouse lawn.
Red said he likes to give youths an opportunity to get a free pumpkin and put a smile on their faces.
"Halloween's the greatest holiday in the year," Red said. "A couple pieces of candy and a pumpkin, and the kids are happy."
