Red and Linda Cortner will again give pumpkins to area youths next week.
In Craig, youths may get a free pumpkin beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at Homemaker Furnishings, 468 Ranney St. Last year, pumpkins were all distributed by about 11:30 a.m., Red said.
In Baggs, Wyo., children may get a pumpkin at Little Snake River Valley School on Thursday.
In Meeker, pumpkins are available on Friday afternoon on the Rio Blanco County Courthouse lawn.
Red said he likes to give youths an opportunity to get a free pumpkin and put a smile on their faces.
"Halloween's the greatest holiday in the year," Red said. "A couple pieces of candy and a pumpkin, and the kids are happy."

Free weight loss seminar Wednesday
A free weight loss seminar is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.

Bella Voce to host masquerade dinner
Bella Voce Show Chorus presents its Masquerade Diva Dinner at 7 p.m. Friday at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion.
The event includes dinner, a dessert bar and a cabaret-style show followed by dancing. Costumes are optional.
Tickets are $40 per person or $25 for students 25 and younger.

Soup supper set for Friday
A soup supper with dessert is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, 630 Green St.

Hunter sight-ins scheduled for October, November
Hunter sight-ins are scheduled for October and November at the Bears Ears Sportsman Club Cedar Mountain Range, on Moffat County Road 7 about five miles north of Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply.
Sight-ins are set for Thursday and Friday (first season), Oct. 20 and 21 (second season), Nov. 3 and 4 (third season), and Nov. 14 and 15 (fourth season). The range opens at 9 a.m.
Targets are out to 400 yards.

Love INC hosts Community Coat Drive
Love in the Name of Christ is now distributing winter coats and is seeking donations to the Community Coat Drive.
Distributions are scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 and Oct. 19 at Hayden Congregational United Church of Christ, 202 E. Jefferson St., Hayden; and Oct. 24 through 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church and Lutheran Church of Grace, 657 Green St.
Anyone in need of a winter coat may pick up one for themselves and their children. The limit is one coat per person per year.
Donations of gently used coats, gloves and other accessories are accepted at Love INC, 656 School St., or Calvary Baptist Church, 1050 Yampa Ave.

Book club to meet Thursday
The Craig Book Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 657 Green St.

Craft sale spaces available
The second annual craft sale at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, 419 E. Victory Way, is scheduled for noon to 7 p.m. Nov. 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 19.
The sale is for vendors of handmade items. The price of the booth space benefits the VFW's youth programs.

Crabfest scheduled for Oct. 29
The Craig Chamber of Commerce's ninth annual Crabfest is scheduled for Oct. 29 at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40.
The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and dinner is served at 7 p.m. Entertainment, including a comedian and a presentation by the Moffat County High School theater students, begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $50 per person. Tables of eight are also available.
The Chamber is seeking donations for the event live and silent auctions.
