McDonald's mascot Ronald McDonald present the school show "Read to Achieve" at 11:30 a.m. today at the Craig McDonald's restaurant, 1080 W. Victory Way.
The show includes a magic act, information on how children can access library resources and presentations on famous people who had their lives enhanced by reading.
MCHS project auction set for Friday
The 2011 Moffat County High School FFA Project Auction and Oyster Fry will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the MCHS Ag Shop, 900 Finley Lane.
Projects to be auctioned include metal artwork, yard ornaments, bird feeders, wishing wells, a wide variety of flowers and more.
Dinner is offered for $5 per person.

Reception for quilt show set for May 26
The opening reception for the second annual Western Heritage Quilt Show is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. May 26 at the Museum of Northwest Colorado, 590 Yampa Ave.
The show is hosted by the Yampa Valley Piecemakers Quilt Guild, and light refreshments will be served.
The quilt show will remain on display through June 10. Admission to the museum is free.

Entries due Saturday for Pet Mates Calendar Contest
The deadline for entries to the Humane Society of Moffat County's 2012 Pet Mates Calendar Contest is Saturday.
The contest is free, and digital photo entries must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org. The Humane Society recommends participants set their cameras to the highest resolution possible because photos will be enlarged.
Photos should be horizontal, in .jpg format, and at least 200 dpi and six inches wide. They should be emailed as an attachment.
The name and age of the pet should be included, as well as the name of the owner and his or her phone number and email address. No more than two entries per family, and submissions must have been taken within the last year.
Pets must still be alive and live in the home.
Local business owners will judge the entries and choose a top 24. The public will vote by donation for the top 12. The winners will be featured on a month and runners-up will be featured elsewhere in the calendar.
The contest is a fundraiser for the Humane Society.
Anyone who would like to have smaller photos, such as memorials, printed along the borders in the calendar can also submit them to the Humane Society's email address. There is a $5 charge per photo. Payments should be made to HSMC, P.O. Box 1587, Craig, CO 81626.
