Briefs for March 16, 2011: MCHS spring play opens Thursday

The Moffat County High School Theatre Department's presentation of the "The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood" begins with a premiere at 7 p.m. Thursday. Additional shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at the high school auditorium, 900 Finley Lane.

The play is a comedic retelling of the legend of Sherwood Forest. Admission is $5 per person.

On Saturday, immediately following the matinee, the actors will host a mock wedding reception for Robin Hood and Marion.

Admission for the reception is $2.

Sandrock teacher to receive CEA Award

Sandrock Elementary School teacher Michele Conroy has been selected for the 2011 CEA Award, according to a news release from David Grabowski, president of the Moffat County Education Association.

"The CEA Award recognizes an association member who has given outstanding service to education at the state level," the release states. "This is the highest award that CEA can give to a member."

Conroy will receive the award during the Colorado Education Association's annual delegate assembly on April 29 in Denver.

Newspaper seeks New board members

The Craig Daily Press is seeking three to four people to participate on its next Editorial Board, which begins April 4.

Editorial Board members meet from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays to discuss the newspaper's opinion pieces for that week's Wednesday and Saturday editions.

Editorial Board terms last three months.

Legion bingo set for Saturday

American Legion Post 62 is hosting bingo Saturday night at the Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way. Doors open at 5 p.m., and games begin at 6:15 p.m. Anyone is welcome.
