Briefs for Feb. 24, 2011: St. Michael Church plans Mardi Gras party

St. Michael Catholic Church has scheduled its annual Mardi Grad Party and Dinner for March 4 at the church, 678 School St.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for happy hour, and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.
A disc jockey will provide entertainment, and there will be prizes for the best costumes.
Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger at KS Kreations, 523 Yampa Ave., or the church.
Tickets at the door are $15 for adults or $6 for children 12 and younger.

Farmgirls chapter seeks new members
The local chapter of the Farmgirl Sisterhood — the Yampa Valley Hens and Chicks — is looking for new members.
The group gathers to discuss and work on projects involving craftiness, sewing, painting, gardening, tending animals and neighborly actions.

Girl Scouts selling cookies this week
Girl Scouts troops will be selling cookies at various locations in Craig this week.
On Friday, there will be a cookie booth open from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. outside City Market, 505 W. Victory Way.
On Saturday, booths will be open from noon to 4 p.m. at City Market; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Walgreens, 750 W. Victory Way, and Walmart, 2000 W. Victory Way; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply, 2355 W. Victory Way.
On Sunday, booths will be open from noon to 4:30 p.m. at City Market, and noon to 4 p.m. Walgreens, Walmart, and Safeway, 1295 W. Victory Way.
The last day of sales is March 5. Booths will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Market and Walmart, and noon to 4 p.m. at Walgreens and Safeway.

Aquatics class moves to Hampton Inn & Suites
The Colorado Visiting Nurse Association/Aging Well program has moved its aquatics class to the Hampton Inn & Suites, 377 Cedar Court.
The class takes place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays. The cost is $32 for an eight-week session, or $6 for drop ins.

Bake sale proceeds to assist Jane Milligan
A bake sale scheduled for Saturday in front of City Market is part of the "Save Jane Campaign." A group of local residents is raising money for Jane Milligan's upcoming kidney transplant.
