The Preserving the Last Frontier organization is hosting its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the second-floor conference room at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St.
T. Wright Dickinson, Neal McCandless, Dean Visintainer and Tom Mathers will speak about the highlights of Moffat County's first 100 years. The meeting is open to the public.

Fire board praises Craig Fire/Rescue
The Craig Rural Fire Protection District Board used its monthly meeting Feb. 17 to praise Craig Fire/Rescue for safety precautions while dealing with structure fires this year.
"Firefighting is an inherently dangerous profession," board member Chris Nichols said. "Firefighters take calculated risks based on their training. Everything you do is risky."

During his report, Craig Fire/Rescue Chief Bill Johnston reported that there have been no injuries or accidents since his last report.
During the board meeting, the department also approved bills, which totaled $26,791. The department also accepted the resignation of Ricardo Aragon, a probationary firefighter.
Preparedness and Self Reliance Fair set
The 2011 Community Preparedness and Self Reliance Fair is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1295 W. Ninth St., in Craig.
The fair runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
It will include information and demonstrations throughout both days on topics such as three-month storage plans, 72-hour kits, pressure cookers, fire safety, financial planning and will preparation, and ham radios.
There will also be drawings for a 72-hour kit, emergency crank radio, boxes of water and cans of food. This is the event's third year.
Class to benefit Landon Hatcher
Zumba instructors Christalin Thompson and Becky Smith are hosting a benefit Zumba class from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion.
The cost of the class is $5. All proceeds will benefit Landon Hatcher, a 10-month-old Craig baby diagnosed with a brain tumor.
