Briefs for Dec. 23, 2011: Aging Well classes begin in January

Aging Well, a program of the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, will offer two new classes beginning Jan. 9.
A new beginning Tai Chi class for older adults will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Mondays at The Journey at First Baptist, 1150 W. Ninth St.
A $3 donation per class is requested.
Arthritis Foundation Aquatics will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Fridays at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 377 Cedar Court.
The class runs through March 5 and costs $32 for one class per week or $50 for two classes per week. Drop-in participants pay a $6 fee.

Daily Press a drop-off for Santa letters
Santa Claus has asked the Craig Daily Press to help him gather Christmas letters. Bring your letter, which should include your first name and age, to the newspaper at 466 Yampa Ave.
The letters will be printed in the Saturday Morning Press and will be accepted until 5 p.m. today.
VNA offers materials for quiting smoking
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is providing free self-service "cessation stations" at its Craig office, 745 Russell St., and its Steamboat Springs office, 940 Central Park Drive, Suite 101, throughout the holiday season.
The stations offer materials for adults, teens, pregnant women, smokers and smokeless tobacco users. Other tobacco information also is available.

Economic Council meets Jan. 4
The Yampa Valley Economic Development Council will meet at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Dinner is served 5:45 p.m.
The event includes speakers from the Office of Economic Development and International Trade and the Department of Local Affairs.
Sen. Jean White also is scheduled to speak.
