Briefs for Aug. 20, 2011: Firefighter’s Ball set for tonight

The 72nd annual Firefighter’s Ball Luau is scheduled for 6 p.m. to midnight tonight at the OP Bar & Grill, 534 E. Victory Way.

Carl Sokia will serve as disc jockey.

Tickets cost $10 per person. All proceeds benefit the department’s scholarship fund.

Attorney Ralph Cantafio will present the free seminar “Trends in Oil and Gas Affecting Northwest Colorado” at 6 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn of Craig, 300 S. Colorado Highway 13.

Blood drive set for Tuesday

The Bonfils Blood Center will host a blood drive from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at The Memorial Hospital, 750 Hospital Loop.

To schedule an appointment, call the Bonfils appointment center at 1-800-365-0006, option 2, or sign up online at http://www.bonfils.org using the blood drive group number 0183.

Bonfils suggests participants eat a full meal and drink plenty of water before donating blood.

Support group meets Tuesdays

The Depression and Bipolar Support Group meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday at The Memorial Hospital, 750 Hospital Loop.

The group is free and open to anyone.
