Briefs for April 1, 2011: Group to discuss garden tools today

The Yampa Valley Hens and Chicks, the local chapter of the Farmgirl Sisterhood, will meet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at St. Michael Catholic Church, 678 School St.
One of the speakers will be Lorrae Moon, who will teach attendees how to get garden tools ready for spring.

Craig Variety Show set for tonight
The Craig Variety Show is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. tonight at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, 419 E. Victory Way.
The events take place on the first Friday of every month.
Shows include food, drinks, and performances by singer/songwriters, poets and storytellers.

Tonight's event will include special April Fools' Day performances by John Prine, Iris Dement, Jeff Beck and BB King.

Concert association hosting auditions
The Craig Concert Association will host auditions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Moffat County High School auditorium, 900 Finley Lane, for its annual Talent Show.
According to a news release from the association, auditions should be between three and five minutes. People unable to audition should submit a tape or CD if they are unable to audition Saturday.
The Talent Show is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 23 at the MCHS auditorium.

Legion hosting Saturday bingo
American Legion Post 62 is hosting bingo Saturday night at the Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way.
The progressive jackpot is now more than $1,000.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6:15 p.m. Games are open to anyone.
