Briefly in Business
July 16, 2001
Criag Tom Nelson and his father, Joe, have purchased The Used Book Store (TUBS) in Craig, and plan to continue the same level of service residents have come to expect from the home-based business.
Former owner and longtime Craig resident Al Romano has moved to Kansas with one of his four daughters, prompting the sale of the business.
Joe and Tom are both retired.
Tom has been in Craig since December, after being called here by his father, who used joint ownership of the small bookstore as an incentive.
“I’ve always been a vacarious reader and [my father] has been, too,” Tom said.
The Used Book Store boasts more than 20,000 popular and hard-to-find books, which are sold for half of the original cover price. The Nelson’s also plan to provide a record section, and are looking for used records and books on tape.
Tom said that he and his father hope to contribute to the community by providing a place that supports literacy.
“There aren’t enought places in town where a person can just sit back and read,” he said.
Because of their huge selection , the Nelson’s aren’t accepting book donations at this time.
